Matching Sets Streetstyle The Lifestyle ReporterMatching sets or sometimes called coordinates, are THE trend of summer!  What exactly are they?  It’s literally wearing a top with shorts, pants or a skirt with the same exact pattern or in the same shade.  The uniformity of pattern/color creates a clean, elegant, and vintage-esque vibe to your outfit.  It’s also a great choice when you’re in a hurry.  The best part is that so many shops and online stores have matching sets so you can recreate your own look too! Check out 5 different ways to style a matching set!

Chiara Ferragni Matching Floral Set Cordinates Style Summer Patterned Looks

Chiara Ferragni looks boho chic in her matching floral set at this year’s Coachella Festival.  The off-the-shoulder top and shorts are breezy pieces that are a must have in your wardrobe.  The shorts can be pulled up to show less skin or lower to show off more midriff.  What’s great about this look is the pattern–it’s fun and girly but still casual. Add in a hat, a necklace, bracelets and multiple rings to complete the look.

Missguided has a gorgeous set that is really similar to Chiara’s.  The pattern is so pretty and it has that off-the-shoulder detail that I love. The top is: Missguided Printed Bardot Top ($30) and bottom is the Missguided Scarf Printed Shorts Navy ($36).

Joan Smalls Maroon Matching Set Coordinates Model Style Fashion Summer Ideas

Model Joan Smalls shows us how to rock a matching set into the cool summer evenings.  She chose to pair her maroon colored pants and blouse with orange Adidas sneakers.  The maroon color is a good choice when choosing a pants and loose blouse set because it’s elegant, modern and not too flashy.  I love that Joan chose to add a bold color to the look with her bright sneakers, adding edge to the formal look, making it more casual. She added in a simple gold choker and major eyeliner, which definitely adds that edge to her look.  Boohoo.com has similar pieces: the Jasmin Basic Oversized Tee in the color Wine ($14) and the Lucy Loopback Jogger in the color Wine as well ($16).

Taylor Swift Matching Set Floral Top and Shorts Style

Taylor Swift’s matching set is all about the florals.  The shorts and blouse combo have a gorgeous blue colored floral pattern.  She paired it with bright blue heels and a maroon purse.  The casual daytime ootd still shows of her legs, but is still ladylike.  The blouse is loose, which balances all of the leg showing.  This feminine look is sexy but in an understated way. The bright heels add a nice sexy touch to the look, and a bit of youthful fun.

Asos.com has a fun floral blouse and shorts: the ASOS Reclaimed Vintage Purple Floral Cut Out Detail Crop Top (on sale for $18) and the ASOS Reclaimed Vintage Purple FloralShorts (on sale for $19).

Ashley Madekwe Matching Set Cordinates Style Summer Ideas

Ashley Madekwe looks flawless in her black and white gingham crop top and pants.  The emsemble gets a bit of glam with her heels, as well as a simple black handbag.  The loose fitting trousers and sleeveless crop top are a great outfit combo for day or night, perfect for anyone who wants to look elegant but still turn heads.  Missguided.com has a monochrome gingham shell top ($20), and it’s currently on sale! They have pants as well, called the gingham high waisted skinny trousers ($36).

Miroslava Duma Matching Set Blue Top and Skirt Cordinates Summer Style

Miroslava Duma takes a blue mini skirt to another level by adding a matching blouse layered on top.  Add in platform heels, a chunky necklace and a mini handbag, and you’re ready to hit the streets.  This funky look is so summery chic, and I love how she took a mini skirt and made it daytime appropriate.  This simple look makes a big statement because of the bold colors of the matching set, as well as the chunky accessories. Forever 21 has a pretty top and skirt that looks similar to Miroslava’s: Paneled Batwing Top ($12.80) in navy and the favorite mini skirt ($4.80) in navy.
