4 Beauty Items You Need This September


I love September, because it means fall is coming soon.  The leaves fall and the weather changes (well it changes a little here in LA).  September also means new beginnings and what better way to start the month than by purchasing some new beauty items!

1) Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt Cologne

This is a beautiful fragrance.  It has a musky, earthy but clean scent.  The wood sage is so subtle–it’s probably one of my favorites.  This is not a floral scent so keep that in mind.  I will definitely be adding this to my perfume collection.  A 1 ounce bottle can be purchased for $60 and a 3.4 ounce bottle for $120.  It can be purchased here.

2) Bobbi Brown Limited Edition Sand Eye Eyeshadow Palette

This eyeshadow palette is beautiful–it has eight shades, four that are shimmery and four that are matte.  Some days I’m all about the glitter and others, I like to keep it simple.  It’s quite pricey at $65 but to me it’s a collector’s item.  It can be purchased here.

3) Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Shampoo

This shampoo is sulfate free and makes hair soft and silky.  It also protects the hair from UV radiation and heat–which is something I need!  This is a must have!  It is $30 for an 8.5 ounce and can be purchased here.

4) Nars Satin Lip Pencil

These lip pencils are really pigmented and leave lips with a gorgeous shine.  I normally wear matte lipsticks or just a matte lip pencil but I love the texture and feel of these Nars lip pencils!  I love all the colors but I think I need to add either Biscayne Park or Isola Bella, both in the pink family.  Each pencil is $25 and can be purchased here.

Alicia Keys Looks Gorgeous in New Givenchy Fragrance Ad Campaign


Alicia Keys is the new face of Givenchy’s latest fragrance, Dahlia Divin, and she is looking good!  alicia-keys-givenchy-dahlia-divin-tlrAlthough the scent, which combines notes of patchouli, sandalwood, mirabelle plum, vetiver, and jasmine, won’t be out until September, her ad campaign for the new fragrance has been released.  Singer Alicia is clad in a gold, shimmering Givenchy dress and golden makeup to match the design of the Givenchy fragrance.

The 33-year-old Grammy winner told WWD that the inspiration for the campaign came after Givenchy designer Ricardo Tisci worked with Alicia for a show she did celebrating the 10th anniversary for her debut album:

“We did four intimate shows with just me on the piano, and he designed the look for them.  It was very heavy metal–everything of his is just really heavy, but it was super cool.  As time passed, the campaign came to fruition.”
