Trend Alert: Chokers

Dec
16

Chokers are one of those accessories that will always add that sexy factor.  It can take a polished look and make it instantly effortless and edgy. You can go simple with a black ribbon-style choker or go all out with a blinged out version.  This type of necklace is definitely a nod to the 1990’s but over 25 years later, it’s still a must have piece for any girl’s jewelry box. Check  out five ways to style a choker!

1.Black X White X Gold

Miranda Kerr wowed while at LAX airport last week, pairing a gold studded black and white choker with a dark hued bomber jacket, white crop top and cream colored high-waisted leggings.  She added black pointed boots, a large bag and vintage style sunglasses.  The choker took the neutral toned look and added a nice metallic detail.  The colors of the necklace also tie in the white, cream and black of the outfit perfectly!

2) A Simple Black Choker

Gigi Hadid wore a black ribbon-like choker while out and about in West Hollywood with Zayn Malik.  This is a great way to add an edgy touch in the simplest way–she styled the choker with a black velvet crop top, a leather jacket and high waisted jeans.  This look is so effortlessly cool and so easy to recreate!  Make sure to pull your hair back into a low bun so you can show off the choker!

3) Charm + Choker

Cara Delevingne styled a choker with a large sparkling charm, giving the whole look a pop! This choker is great for adding a unique touch to an all black look and is something that will draw a lot of attention to your décolletage. The slightly off center look is also a good way to make the necklace less formal, perfectly paired with a high bun and red lips.

4) Bandanna Choker

Kylie Jenner added a bandanna to her night out look, pairing it with a black dress, a leather bomber jacket and lace up heels.  She took a folded bandanna and tied it around her neck–adding a cool girl touch to the ensemble.  It can even be done with colorful scarves if you don’t have a bandanna, just fold it diagonal and then fold it over until it becomes the width you want it to be.  This look is great if you want it to look edgy but not vampy.

5) Tie it up

I love the way Gigi styles her chokers–it always looks so effortless. The blonde beauty is wearing a rope-style necklace–meaning it looks like several chokers layered  on top of each other. She added the light blue choker to a white top and duster coat with leather leggings. The light color is a great way to add a sexy touch to a look without making it vampy.  Instead this is an airy, posh look that can add a nice detail to a look. The light color is a nice change and pairs perfectly with the white top and jacket.

5 Ways to Style a Gray T-Shirt

Sep
13

Gray is one my favorite colors besides black, because it’s timeless and it always looks so cool.  It’s a must have basic piece that needs to be in every girl’s wardrobe.  Check out 5 different ways to wear a simple gray t-shirt!

1.Gray Tee X Jeans X Nude Heels

This is the simplest combination and one of the easiest to put together: a gray t-shirt paired with skinny jeans and nude heels.  Kendall Jenner’s gray t-shirt look can be worn day to night.  The heels add the perfect touch of sexy to the classic pieces and definitely makes a statement. Since the jeans are super fitted, Kendall kept her t-shirt untucked, which gives it nice effortlessly cool vibe.

2.Gray Shirt X Patterned Skirt

Blogger Jules Sarinana (@SincerlyJules) wears a gray t-shirt with a purple floral skirt.  The combination of the basic tee and the patterened skirt works well because they complement each other.  Since the skirt is loud, she kept the gray shirt untucked to help tone it down. She kept the look casual by adding black flats and aviators as well as a simple gold necklace.

3.Gray Shirt X Pencil Skirt

Miranda Kerr wears probably one of my favorite combos: gray shirt, black pencil skirt and lace up heels.  This is a great date night look as well as a night on the town kind of outfit.  The lace up heels are so sexy and make any outfit look unforgettable.  The black pencil skirt is so flattering and feminine, the opposite of the casual tee. Miranda tucks in her tee which is perfect for this look because it makes you look really put together.

4.Gray Tee X Blazer X Jeans

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley always looks so chic when she’s photographed, and one of her favorite pieces to wear is a simple blazer.  A blazer is a great “fancy” piece–whenever you add it to a look, it instantly makes your outfit look event or work ready.  She wore a gray shirt with her black blazer and jeans.  The shirt is messily tucked in and she added black sunglasses, a gold choker and a Givenchy bag.  She kept her accessories simple because she wanted to keep her look toned down but classically chic.

5.Gray T-Shirt X White Jeans X Leather Jacket

Cara Delevingne looks so cool in her gray shirt, black leather jacket and boots, paired with white jeans.  The jacket and boots are a great way to toughen up the look and make it less preppy.  The half-tucked shirt in the white jeans looks great with the small black belt and handbag.  She kept the badass vibe by choosing dark eye makeup as well.

Makeup Inspired: Pink Lips

Jun
24

I am in love with pink lips! It’s so feminine, soft and looks so pretty. As you can see, you can have many different makeup looks with pink lips, simply by the shade of eyeshadow.  Check out 4 different ways on what to pair with pink lips.

Gigi Hadid is pictured above getting her makeup done for the 2015 Met Gala by makeup artist Patrick Ta.  The pink lips are paired with shimmery cream colored eyeshadow and heavy liner.  Her sockets are darkened with some light brown shadow and finished off with rosy cheeks.  The look is is really shimmery and gold. Yves Saint Laurent’s Rouge Pur Couture in Color 11 (Rose Carnation) is similar to Gigi’s lip color.

Cara Delevingne Pink Lips Brown Eyeshadow Makeup Inspired Style

Cara Delevingne’s makeup look with pink lips is is all about the browns.  She’s wearing heavy brown eyeshadow that’s brought out past the socket.  Her eyes are rimmed with a brownish gold pencil on the bottom while rimmed with black on the top.  There’s also a lot of bronzer used in this makeup up look, as well as blush. Try Nars Lipstick in Roman Holiday.

The next look is for Erin Fetherston’s F/W’15 show and probably one of my favorite looks so far.  Not only is she wearing pink lipstick, she has pink eyeshadow.  Her cat eyes is extremely pronounced, which perfectly balances the pink eyeshadow. The bottom rim has some brown eyeshadow as well.  Marc Jacobs has a similar color: Color 102 (Strange Magic).

Kylie Jenner Cannes Pink Lips Makeup Inspired

Kylie Jenner wore this pretty look while in Cannes in June 2015.  She opted for a matte nude pink lip and a lot of eyeliner.  She’s wearing a neutral eyeshadow but honestly, this look is all about the lashes.  She’s wearing a nice set of false lashes to elevate the look, and to balance the heavy top half, she’s wearing brownish-bronze eyeliner beneath the bottom lashes. NYX Cosmetics has a similar color, called Peekaboo Neutral (SPL 860).

Trend Alert: All About Camouflage!

May
18

I have been obsessing over camouflage and I’m definitely not the only one!  Camouflage is called many things-camo, army, khaki–but at the end of the day, it’s pretty much just a pattern that is seen on military uniforms, using colors like hunter green, light green, etc.  Camo is a definite addition that will toughen up any outfit.  Check out how Kim Kardashian, Cara Delevingne, Rihanna, Rita Ora and Kylie Jenner styled their camo!

1. Camo Jacket

A camo jacket is a great way to make any outfit look edgy.  For this look, the key is all about fit–you don’t want your jacket to be too fitted.  The jacket should be loose and even a little baggy.  The reason is that when it’s baggy, it tends to look more casual and effortless.

Lily Aldridge wore her army jacket with a white tee, black jeans and suede gray boots.  This is such a simple look but the army jacket really gives the whole look dimension and color.  Instead of being a simple black and white look, the army jacket gives it a cool girl vibe.  The suede boots and black handbag are the perfect accessories to complete the overall look.

I was hoping the camouflage would hide me from the paps… 😂

Rita Ora took the army look to another level, pairing her oversized jacket with leggings, white sneakers and a baseball cap.  She wore her baggy jacket with leggings–the perfect combo because they balance each other out.  Adding the white sneakers and hat adds an athletic touch to the look, and the result is nothing less than cool chic!

Kim Kardashian wore her army jacket to Kanye West’s Adidas show, and she definitely rocked the look!  This look is all about texture and fit!  She chose an oversize army jacket with capri brown leggings, a crop top and sheer top.  This look is probably a little too much for everyday–unless you switch the bottoms with black leggings (that go all the way down to your ankles).  I actually really love the sheer turtleneck under the crop top but you can also wear it the other way–with the crop top underneath the sheer turtleneck.  You could also switch the crop top with a similar colored bralet underneath.  The key to this look is the layers–and I love how Kim pulled her jacket sleeves up so you can see the sheer turtleneck. She finished off the look with dark beige booties–such a chic touch!

Kylie Jenner wore her army jacket with black jeans a a black top, finishing off the look with black booties.  This look is all about the army jacket and by keeping the rest of the look black, it keeps the focus on the camo.  This is a great daytime look but it will also look great in the evening as well because of the booties.

2. Army Pants

Army patterned pants are another great addition to your wardrobe and on the plus side, you can wear them year round!  Below is two different takes on the camo pants-version one is fitted skinny jeans, while version two is baggy high waisted cargo inspired pants.

Cara Delevingne took her army patterned jeans and styled it with a moto jacket and black tee. She finished the look off with hunter green combat boots and sunnies. The moto jacket with the camo patterned jeans is a great combo because while the jacket is fancy, the jeans are casual–giving off a chic vibe.

Kim Kardashian really loves her camo! This time she styled her camo high waisted pants with a white crop top, black duster coat and hunter green heeled boots.  The high waisted pants balance the revealing crop top.  The white crop top is the perfect feminine touch to the overall military tough look, as well as adding heeled boots.

3. Camo Shirt

If you’re not ready to commit to an army jacket or pants, try the next best thing–an army patterned shirts.  Rihanna and Cara show us two easy ways to take a camo shirt and make it look good!

Rihanna wore her cropped army jacket with cuffed boyfriend jeans and army patterned heels, adding in a backwards gold hat.  Rihanna took the camo and just went with it–choosing to match the heels with the shirt.  By choosing loose fitting boyfriend jeans keeps the look from being too revealing.  She keeps the look sexy by wearing a cropped shirt, showing off her stomach.

Cara decided to style her army patterned shirt with a leather jacket and jeans, adding in a backwards cap and blue-green sunglasses.  This is such a fun look! The key to this look is keeping the main pieces simple–the jeans and jacket, while adding in fun accessories, like the sunglasses and hat.

4. Camouflage Patterned Hat

Rihanna shows us all how to take camo and make it fancy!  She wore her camo trucker hat with a high neck black crop top and mini skirt, finishing off the look with black heels, red lips, and a gold necklace.  She kept her hair up so that the main focus is the high neck top and gold choker, and added a leather jacket in case the night gets cold.

How to Look Chic in Sweatpants and Sneakers

May
12

I love feeling comfortable in my clothes and sweatpants and sneakers are the perfect combo to me.  Instead of limping in heels or feeling self-conscious in fitted jeans, my new go to is sneakers and sweats.  It’s entirely possible to look chic in this athletic-inspired combo, but it’s all about how you style it.  Check out three ways to look chic and stylish while wearing sneakers and sweatpants!

1. Choose a Printed Sweatpants and Top Set

Jourdan Dunn wore a pineapple printed sweatsuit set with her Adidas Superstar 2.0 sneakers, an easy stylish combo!  The great thing about this look is that you can have fun with the pattern or print, as long as you keep it consistent with the sweater top and pants. Make sure to roll up the sleeves, just so the look is a little more relaxed and effortless. Her sweatpants and sweater are by Zoe Karssen.  She also designed other sweatpants with crazy patterns, including a bat pattern, as well as stars and palm trees. The Adidas Superstars are the perfect sneakers for the look because they give the outfit an edgy vibe.

2. Add a Crop Top and Denim Vest

Candice Swanepoel wore black Nike sweatpants with a white loose crop top and denim vest, finishing off the look with her Adidas Superstars.  This a definitely a more daring look than Jourdan’s, but it’s still casual and relaxed.  The long sleeve white crop top is super loose, which compliments the loose sweatpants.  The whole look works because the top is cropped–revealing her stomach and making the look sexy.  The light wash denim vest is a great way to make the outfit a little less revealing while also adding that effortless vibe.  The sneakers keep the look casual and works perfectly with the color palette she chose.  This look screams effortless cool! Check out these sweatpants at Asos-they look pretty much identical to Candice’s and they’re only $33 USD!

3. Tuck in a Simple Loose T-Shirt

Cara Delevingne wore two simple pieces and she looks so stylish!  She chose navy sweatpants and tucked in a gray t-shirt.  She wore gorgeous Chanel high tops and reflective sunglasses to finish off the look.  The key to this look is making sure to tuck in the tee, because if not, it could look a little sloppy–by tucking it in, you’re defining your waist and making it more streamlined.  The white sneakers bring a pop lightness to the mostly dark-colored look.  This is such a easy look to recreate–a simple tee and solid sweatpants! Uniqlo.com has similar navy blue sweatpants for $30.

Three Must See Winter Looks

Dec
02

Winter outfits can usually end up feeling uninspired–mine is usually the same look all the time–jacket and jeans.  If you’re like me and you want to try a different look, have no fear, here are three great winter looks that aren’t the typical ootd and are must-sees!

1. Plaid

Plaid is a great pattern that literally looks good on everyone.  Cara Delevingne’s plaid jacket is gorgeous and it takes her outfit to the next level!  Instead of grabbing that black jacket, try something like Cara’s.  If you don’t want to invest in a plaid jacket or if it’s to out there for you, you can always wear a plaid shirt around the waist and throw on a leather jacket to stay warm.  However, this jacket is a timeless piece that will always be in style and make your outfit look sophisticated.  Cara did a great job making her look edgy by adding leather pants and boots.

Cara Delevigne Flannel Coats Leather Pants

2. Faux Fur

Faux fur is a must have this fall/winter!  It not only keeps you warm, but it looks so chic.  Jessica Alba rocks her faux fur on top of an olive-colored jacket that makes the look badass!  I love that she added the scarf to her outfit to make it more feminine.  A faux fur vest is a great piece because it’s so versatile but you can also try a faux fur jacket instead if you’re looking for warmth.

Jessica Alba Faux Fur Vest Casual

3. All White Everything

When in doubt, or in a rush, I tend to grab an all black outfit, BUT, why not try and do the opposite?  An all white look, a la Kim Kardashian, is a great way to dress outside the box and make heads turn.  I love the idea of a white turtleneck and long white skirt–it’s chic and simple.  If you want to stay warmer than Kim, definitely grab a turtleneck that’s thicker and not see thru, but you get the idea!  The all white look is so flattering and you will definitely stand out in a crowd!

Three New Ways to Rock a Beanie

Sep
15

Now that fall is around the corner, it’s time to dress for the cooler weather.  Take a cue from these gorgeous ladies and make beanies a staple in your wardrobe.

1) Make Your Beanie the Pop of Color

Cara Delevingne knows how to make a statement, and in this case, it’s her bright red beanie.  It’s loud and draws your eyes immediately!  She keeps the rest of her outfit simple: black leather jacket and boots, white t-shirt and jeans.  Choose a bright-colored beanie to spice up your OOTD and it will be an attention grabber.

2) Wear Your Beanie With a Dress and Coat

Jourdan Dunn styles her dress and winter coat right, wearing a black beanie and some flat boots to toughen it up.  The beanie gives her feminine dress an urban twist and the results are flawless!

If you’re aiming for a more feminine look, wear a black beanie with a matching lace dress. Just add a coat plus flat boots.  The lace peeking out from under the coat give a feminine vibe but the beanie and boots keep the look from looking too sweet.  Not sure who the model is, found it on tumblr 🙂

3) Compliment Your Beanie With Red Lips

Rihanna chose a gray beanie to go with a white crop top, leather skirt and sneakers.  If she chose a black colored beanie, the look would have been more goth glam but the gray gives the outfit a relaxed, cool vibe that tones down the otherwise risque outfit.  She adds the perfect touch–red lips.  Red lips means glamour and that’s what we see!  Add red lips to chic up any beanie outfit!  Perfection!
